3 soldiers hurt in Basilan ambush (Sabong News)

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Three soldiers were wounded in an ambush in Lamitan, Basilan yesterday.
Col. Gerry Besana, Western Mindanao Command spokesman, citing reports from the Joint Task Force Basilan said the victims, all with the 74thInfantry Battalion, were waylaid near the boundary of Barangays Sabong and Campo Uno at about 10:15 a.m.
Besana said the soldiers were on their way to their camp in Barangay Macalang, Albarka town when they were attacked.
The soldiers, who were not identified, were brought to the St. Peter’s Hospital for treatment.
“Malamang pagganti ‘yun ng mga na-checkpoint nila during the election,” Besana said.
