ACT-CIS continues to lead PL race with 2.1 million votes (Sabong News)

ACT-CIS continues to lead PL race with 2.1 million votes
Author Martin Sadongdong
Date MAY 16 2022
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) released the partial and official results for the partylist poll on Monday, May 16, with the Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support Partylist (ACT-CIS) leading the pack with 2,102,828 votes. This accounted for 5.7995 percent of the 55.40 million votes cast from 149 certificates of canvass (COCs) that were counted by the Comelec en banc at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City where it sits as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC). Gaining more than the required two percent of total votes, the ACT-CIS is poised to secure more than one seat out of the 63 available seats allocated for the partylist organizations in the House of Representatives. During Monday’s canvassing of certificates of canvass (COCs), Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan approved the motion of Comelec Commissioner George Erwin Garcia to recommend the number of partylist organizations that the poll body can initially proclaim. Comelec acting spokesperson Director John Rex Laudiangco said that the proclamation of winning partylists with a guaranteed seat – or those who secured at least two percent of the votes cast – will be on Thursday, May 19. The winning partylist groups that exceeded the two percent threshold are entitled to an additional seat, provided that it will not exceed the maximum three seats. For partylist groups that did not meet the threshold, they can still secure a seat once the Comelec distributes the remaining seats based on the order of percentage of votes. Pangarungan also approved Garcia’s motion to direct the provincial board of canvassers (PBOCs) of Lanao del Sur to generate the canvass report of the province and submit them to the NBOC; to recommend by the Supervisory Committee Group before the NBOC whether they can proclaim the 12 winning senators by Wednesday, May 18; and to notify all the parties of the proclamation by Tuesday, May 17. The top 10 best performing partylists preserved their positions in the current rankings of the Comelec. ACT-CIS is followed by: 2. 1-Rider Partylist with 999,6008 votes (2.7569 percent); 3. Tingog with 884,595 (2.4397 percent); 4. 4PS with 834,345 (2.3011 percent); 5. Ako Bicol with 815,849 (2.2501 percent); 6. Sagip with 774,075 (2.1349 percent); 7.
