PH bets strike three bronze medals in rowing (Sabong News)

Filipino bets delivered three bronze medals out of the four rowing finals on Friday, May 13, in the 31st Southeast Asian Games at the Thuy Nguyen Boat Racing Center in Vietnam.
The PH rowers took the bronze medals in men’s lightweight coxless four, women’s lightweight quadruple sculls and men’s lightweight quadruple sculls to improve their medal haul to one silver and four bronzes.
The quartet of Edgar Ilas, Roque Abala Jr., Zuriel Sumintac, Joachim De Jesus captured the first medal in men’s lightweight coxless four, finishing the race in 7:00.11, eight seconds behind winner Indonesia (6:47.72) and silver medalist Vietnam (6:52.79).
The women’s team of Joanie Delgaco, Kharl Julianne Sha, Feiza Jane Lenton, Alyssa Hannah Marciana Go followed suit and bagged the second bronze medal after clocking 7:30.14 in the lightweight quadruple sculls.
Host Vietnam ruled the contest with a time of 7:11.32 to take the gold while Indonesia settled for silver in 7:18.38.
The Philippine rowing team then capped the day with another third place finish after Athens Greece Tolentino, Van Adrian Maxilom, Christian Joseph Jasmin, and Emmanuel Joseph Obaña clocked 6:46.84 in the men’s lightweight quadruple sculls.
PH rowers resume their quest for the first gold medal on Saturday with all eyes on Tokyo Olympian Cris Nievarez who will be participating in men’s lightweight single sculls finals where he is the defending champion.
