Human rights group Karapatan once again urged the public to reject the candidacy of presidential bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte in the 2022 elections and beyond.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, May 10, Karapatan laid out its points on why Filipinos should reject the candidacies of the BBM-Sara tandem.
“The two represent the worst brand of traditional politics and governance in our nation’s history,” said Karapatan secretary general Cristina Palabay.
The group also claimed that Marcos has been “refusing to publicly acknowledge” the impacts of Martial Law that Ferdinand Marcos Sr. has directed.
Meanwhile, Karapatan slammed Duterte, saying that she remained “unapologetic in defending and in promising the continuation of her father’s policies.”
“We thus call upon the Filipino people to strongly reject the notorious tandem and to stand strong against possible and further suppression and violation of the people’s rights,” Karapatan said.
