Three more persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City last Friday, May 6.
In a social media post, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said that a total of 54 PDLs has been released from NBP since last April 21.
It was not known immediately how many PDLs have been freed since Jan. 1, 2022 from BuCor’s seven prison facilities nationwide.
In 2021, a total of 4,610 qualified PDLs was released by BuCor in its continuing program to decongest prison facilities.
Those freed in 2021 had either served their prison terms, acquitted of their criminal charges, granted parole or probation, allowed to post bail, or qualified under the good conduct time allowance (GCTA) law.
Bucor said that those released last Friday from NBP’s minimum-security compound had served their jail terms.
