There is no truth to the spreading text message saying that Deputy Speaker and Mandaluyong City Rep. Neptali “Boyet” Gonzales II’s office will give away P1,000 to “qualified” recipients on Friday, May 6.
“Fake news ito. Hindi totoo. May nakatanggap ng ganitong text. Nakipag-coordinate na kami sa mga barangay na sabihan kung sino man ang kukuha ng certificate of indigency para dito na sabihing fake at hindi totoo ito (This is fake news. Not true. Some have received this text. We’ve coordinated with the barangays to tell people the people that will get certificates of indigency for this cash aid that it is fake and not true),” Gonzales said in a statement Thursday, May 5.
As per the fake text advisory, the certificate of indigency is one of the three “requirements” needed by the lucky text recipients to get their alleged P1,000 cash aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR).
The other two are a photocopy of a government-issued ID and Mandatrack.
The text recipients were specifically told to go to Gonzales’s office located inside the Kaban ng Hiyas and look for his staff, Boy Anong.
Anong would supposedly facilitate the distribution at 10 a.m. Friday, but as the deputy speaker himself said, this is all baloney.
Gonzales said the particular text brigade is a form of fraud that was clearly hatchet to besmirch the name of his office.
