Marcos supporters switch to Robredo after voter education—Trillanes (Sabong News)

Marcos supporters switch to Robredo after voter education—Trillanes
Author Raymund Antonio
Date MAY 05 2022
Do you still remember the garments factory workers who were supporters of former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., before they were met by Vice President Leni Robredo? They are now certified kakampinks. Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV announced this after his Magdalo Party held mock polls in the garments factory, where majority of the employees are Marcos supporters. Trillanes, who is running for senator once again under Robredo’s ticket, said they switched sides after their volunteers conducted voter education and information campaign. As of May 3, Trillanes said 77 percent of the factory workers were now throwing their support behind the Vice President. “Yung binisita po namin ni VP Leni Robredo na pabrika (The factory we visited with VP Leni Robredo), from 80 percent for BBM, after two months of consistent voter education, ngayon po (it is now) 77 percent for VP Leni na,” he said in a Facebook post. The former Navy officer then recognized the efforts of their volunteers to make this possible. “Salamat po sa lahat ng volunteers na tumulong! Mabuhay kayo! (Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped! Long live to you!),” he added. READ: The Vice President met with 800 employees of the garments factory in Parañaque sometime in February. She was invited by Leni Robredo Volunteers composed of members from the South of Manila – Parañaque, Las Piñas, Cavite, and Laguna. Robredo was seen in a video, which was posted by Trillanes on his Facebook page on April 30, gamely answering the questions posed by Marcos’ supporters. She told them about her platform for employment, dubbed as the “Hanapbuhay Para Sa Lahat (Jobs for All)” program, including skills training, public employment program, and unemployment insurance. She also talked about the importance of transparency and accountability in government, as well as the appointment of qualified people to government positions. Robredo shared with the workers her learnings from being a volunteer lawyer before she entered politics, highlighting the need for government policies to be people-centered.
