With less than two months before the end of his term, President Duterte remains the most trusted government official in the country, and Malacanang is assuring the Filipino people that this dedication to duty, which it calls “tapang at malasakit”, will prevail until the last day of his presidency.
A flurry of activities continued in all fronts as election fever virtually rivalled the scorching summer temperatures with the frontrunning camps of UniTeam’s Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Leni Robredo gearing for a strong windup of their respective campaigns.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) explained why it had to put a town in Abra and the whole of Misamis Occidental under its control.
Meanwhile, tragedy struck what should have been an enjoyable summer outing after the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) was able to retrieve the remains of five children who drowned in the waters of Taal Lake in Batangas.
These are among the top stories in this mid-week lineup of Manila Bulletin news on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
