Some P11-billion worth of illegal drugs seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during an operation in Infanta, Quezon last March have been turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for destruction.
In a statement, the NBI said the turn-over was made “in compliance with the Orders of the Regional Trial Court under the Fourth Judicial Region of Infanta, Quezon.”
“In compliance with said Order, the NBI thru its Forensic Chemistry Division (FCD) that has custody of the illegal drugs, turned over to PDEA on April 11 and 26, 2022, a total of 1,855 kilograms,” it said.
It said the illegal drugs, methamphetamine hydrochloride or locally known as shabu, were seized during an operation led by the NBI’s Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (NBI-TFAID) last March 15 in Barangay Comon in Infanta, Quezon.
“The operation likewise resulted in the arrest of ten (10) malefactors while in the act of transporting the suspected illegal drugs on board three (3) commuter vans,” it also said.
It identified those arrested as Alvin Ibardo, Jaymart Gallardo, Reynante Alpuerto, Jenard Samson, Jamelanie Samson, Mark Bryan Abonita, Marvin Gallardo, Dante Mannoso, Eugene Roger Bandoma, and Kennedy Abonita.
They have been charged with transporting dangerous drugs in violation of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, it added.
