It’s my birthday tomorrow so here are some words of wisdom I have lived by from the wisest men and women of all time. I have my advise as well in the end of my column and it may be worth living by. I guess from someone who reached a tantamount number of years, I can be already considered to be wise hahaha!
Elon Musk is my favorite wise celebrity that is still living amongst us. He recently acquired Twitter for US$44 billion in cash! According to the Bloomberg Billionaire’s Index, the Tesla CEO is now the world’s richest person, with a net worth of US$252 billion. Here are the two wise quotes you can pick up from him:
“I think it is possible for ordinary people to choose to be extraordinary”
“If you get up in the morning and think the future is going to be better, it is a bright day. Otherwise, it’s not.”
Vikas Jangir wrote about Steve Job’s advice on life, health, and relationships before he died of pancreatic cancer at 56. The founder of Apple’s advice are words I really live by.
“As we grow older, and hence wiser, we slowly realize that wearing a $300 or $30 watch – they both tell the same time. Whether we carry a $300 or $30 wallet/handbag – the amount of money inside is the same;
Whether we drive a $150,000 car or a $30,000 car, the road and distance is the same, and we get to the same destination; Whether we drink a bottle of $300 or $10 wine – the hangover is the same;Whether the house we live in is 300 or 3000 sq ft – loneliness is the same. You will realize, your true inner happiness does not come from the material things of this world. Whether you fly first or economy class, if the plane goes down – you go down with it… Therefore, I hope you realize, when you have mates, buddies and old friends, brothers and sisters, who you chat with, laugh with, talk with, have sung songs with, talk about north-south-east-west or heaven and earth, …. That is true happiness!!
“There are Six Best Doctors in the World: Sunlight, Rest, Exercise, Diet, Self Confidence, and Friends. Maintain them in all stages of life and enjoy a healthy life.”
Five Undeniable Facts of Life by Steve Jobs:
1. Don’t educate your children to be rich. Educate them to be happy. So when they grow up they will know the value of things, not the price.
2. Best awarded words in London … “Eat your food as your medicines. Otherwise you have to eat medicines as your food.”
3. The one who loves you will never leave you for another because even if there are 100 reasons to give up, he or she will find one reason to hold on.
4. There is a big difference between a human being and being human. Only a few really understand it.
5. You are loved when you are born. You will be loved when you die. In between, you have to manage!
The hardest words to live by are from Mother Teresa, but I try to do it. Most of the time, I fail. It’s okay. I’m not a saint like Mother Teresa:
“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people maybe jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today maybe forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
Lastly are my advice to the young … and old like me he-he:
“Shit happens to anyone rich or poor, wise or dumb. So when it does, don’t complain, don’t cry, just clean it up with soap and water and everything will be clean again. Then pray that shit won’t happen again. You’d be surprised because prayer works to those who heed God’s words.”
