More than 98 percent of the Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel have already been inoculated with booster shots, one of the success stories of how proper information dissemination works.
The PNP started with only 50 percent of its personnel signifying intention to get Covid-19 primary shots in February last year based on the internal survey initiated by the the Administrative Support on Covid-19 task Force (ASCOTF) headed by then Police Lt. Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar.
Eleazar then worked with the Department of Health for videos and copies of flyers which were then sent to all police commanders and were posted in PNP account that is accessible to all its personnel.
Following the aggressive information dissemination, more PNP personnel have expressed their willingness to be vaccinated and as of Sunday, May 1, a total of 99.60 percent of its personnel were already vaccinated by the primary two-dose shots.
In its tracker on the same day, the PNP also reported that a total of 220,132 out of 223,588 also recived booster shots.
The vaccination led to the significant decrease in Covid-19 cases in the PNP and currently, the PNP has only one active case with no new infection recorded.
The PNP Health Office said a total of 48,863 were infected by Covid since the start of the pandemic in 2020, with 129 recorded deaths.
