National University recently signed a memorandum of agreement with leading healthcare institution St. Luke’s Medical Center to provide students world-class on-the-job training, better career opportunities, and significant collaborations. Held at the National University campus in Baliwag, it will cover students in the school’s campuses in Manila, MOA, Fairview, Laguna, Dasmariñas, Lipa and Bulacan.
With the partnership, National University and St. Lukes Medical Center will provide employment opportunities to graduates of all programs. Students may have the chance to explore career possibilities with St. Luke’s Medical Center, through career talk, job fairs and on-the-job training (OJT). In addition, graduating students will have the opportunity to attend preliminary interview with St. Luke’s Medical Center once endorsed by the National University based on agreed timelines and process.
Furthermore, St. Luke’s Medical Center will provide special inputs to make a specific program aligned and consistent with industry standards; consider industry visits, faculty immersion, consultation, and peer mentoring endorsed by the National University and create collaboration through research and exchange of invitations for seminars and training.
Dr. Renato Carlos H. Ermita, Jr., President of National University, signed the memorandum of agreement on behalf of NU, while St. Luke’s Medical Center was represented by its president and CEO, Dr. Arturo S. Dela Peña.
“This partnership, we hope, will bring close collaboration in areas of my personal interest which are curriculum development, internship, career placement, hopefully, even faculty exchange and most especially research,” shares National University President Dr. Renato Carlos H. Ermita Jr.
Meanwhile, Dela Peña hopes to develop a long term partnership with National University, wherein both institutions will benefit and qualify in the process.
The partnership between National University and St. Luke’s Medical Center is another successful venture of the University. Just recently, NU Baliwag have partnered with Hopkins International, leading to the certification of all senior high school and college students of the University in the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). This program seeks to recalibrate the communicative competencies of all Nationalian students and professors in order to cope with the demands of society, industry, and the world.
