Two dead, 15 hurt in Negros road mishap (Sabong News)

BACOLOD CITY – Two elderly women died while 15 others were injured in a road accident in Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on Saturday.
Killed in the accident were Edna Tupas, 61, of Barangay 1 and Rose Baguios, 59, of Barangay III.
Lt. Romulo Gepilango, deputy police chief of Himamaylan City Police Station, said the two victims were sitting at the front seat of the van which turned turtle and the driver, who was the son of Baguios, lost control over it.
Gepilango said the passengers were on their way to Himamaylan proper for a catering service when the accident occurred.
Of the wounded victims, two were admitted, five were referred to a hospital here, and eight others were considered outpatients, according to the police.
Meanwhile, an elderly woman also died after she was hit by a transport vehicle of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Escalante in Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City on Friday.
Police identified the victim as Erlinda Malunahao, 76, of Cadiz City.
Lt. Col. Jonel Guadalupe, Sagay City police chief, said that jail officer Jimmy Fortaleza Jr. reportedly lost control over the vehicle, which swerved and collided with a sedan and a tricycle parked at the roadside, where the victim was also standing.
The victim was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, according to Guadalupe.
