The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Office for Overseas Voting said the photo showing an official ballot received by an overseas voter in New Zealand with missing candidate’s name has been “deliberately edited.”
In a statement on Monday, April 25, Comelec OFOV said, it has been deliberately edited “to make it appear that VP Robredo’s name is missing from the list of presidential candidates.”
“The OFOV is coordinating closely with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Embassy in New Zealand to identify the persons responsible for editing the photo and for spreading said photo on social media,” it said.
On Sunday, Comelec Commissioner George Garcia described the said photo that was posted on social media as fake news since no Filipino has come forward to the Embassy to report the ballot with alleged missing entry.
Garcia stressed that they only have one ballot template for entire office for overseas voting regardless of post.
He also said that the task force against fake news will probe the matter.
