MABINI, Pangasinan – What was expected to be a family bonding at the river turned into a sad tragedy as a father visiting the province lost one of his three children after drowning in Balincaguing river in Barangay De Guzman on Saturday, April 23.
The Pangasinan Police Office reported that at around 10 a.m., Ronald Sabaiton, 42, and his live-in partner from Barangay Tumana, Marikina City, went to the river with his three children for a swim.
While in the river, Sabaiton’s children found themselves in a deep portion of the river after they were swept by the strong current.
With the help of concerned people, Sabaiton tried to rescue the three drowning children who were pulled out of the water.
The victims were rushed to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital (WPDH) in Alaminos City, Pangasinan.
Unfortunately, one of the victims, a seven year old girl and a first grader, was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician at the district hospital.
