Voters give mixed reactions to Easter Sunday press conference — Manila Bulletin-Tangere survey
Author Ellalyn De Vera-Ruiz
Date APRIL 24 2022
A joint press conference attended by three presidential candidates on Easter Sunday, April 17, has drawn mixed reactions from voters, based on the April 20-22 Manila Bulletin-Tangere nationwide survey. The results of the survey released on Sunday, April 24, showed that 85 percent of the 2,400 respondents have either watched or heard about the event that was attended by Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Manila Mayor “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, and former Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales. Of those who were aware of the joint press conference, 25 percent had either somewhat or very negative impression of how the event has turned out. “However, this was outnumbered by those that said otherwise, with 41 percent having a somewhat or very positive impression of the event’s outcome, while 34 percent are uncertain,” Tangere said in a press statement. The press conference was meant to declare the presidential aspirants’ commitment to push through with their respective candidacies until the very end of the campaign season but took a different turn when accusations, mostly from Moreno, were hurled at Vice President Leni Robredo and her presidential campaign “Despite being called out by various camps for doing so, nearly half (or 46 percent) of those who watched or heard news about the said event either somewhat or strongly trust or believe the Manila Mayor’s statements, the highest trust rating amongst the presidentiables present there (compared to Lacson’s 41 percent and Gonzales’ 32 percent), 28 percent were uncertain regarding statements made by Domagoso, while only 26 percent said this statements did not resonate to them,” Tangere pointed out. The mobile-based survey was conducted with a confidence level of ninety-five percent with a 2.829 percent margin of error. The survey respondents proportionately represent the following areas nationwide—12 percent from Metro Manila, 23 percent from North and Central Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.
