ILOILO CITY – Presidential candidate Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson may have not been seeking endorsement in Iloilo province. After all, the province is a known bailiwick of Vice President Leni Robredo.
But Lacson and his running mate Senator Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III were somehow impressed with the way they were received by the Ilonggos.
Lacson said they received warm welcome in some parts of the province, especially Estancia town which they visited on Tuesday.
Lacson and Sotto believe they stand a fair chance in the province, and the good numbers of their supporters prompted them to revisit the province of more than two million inhabitants on Wednesday.
“We have been welcomed very warmly in some Iloilo towns,” stressed Lacson.
On their return to the province on Wednesday, Lacson and Sotto visited Sta. Barbara town, before they proceeded to Kalibo in Aklan province.
“We will get a good number of votes. We have friends, we have relatives, we have supporters here,” said Sotto, referring to their Sta. Barbara sortie.
During the campaign sortie, Lacson recalled what he had done in Iloilo when he handled the rehabilitation programs of the Aquino administration in the aftermath of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) that struck the country in November 2013.
