Aika Robredo seeks NBI assistance for spread of fake lewd video (Sabong News)

Vice President Leni Robredo’s eldest daughter Aika asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the spread of a fabricated sex video claiming to be her on various internet sites and social media platforms. In a letter dated April 18, Aika, through a lawyer, requested assistance from lawyer Michelle Valdez, officer-in-charge of the NBI Cybercrime Division, in probing possible cybercrimes and violations of special criminal laws and the Revised Penal Code. “The past few days have seen a sudden surge of uploads and posts in various blogs, porn sites and social media platforms that mislead the public and give the impression that our client has videos or photos allegedly showing her in a scandalous pose or act,” the letter said. The use of Aika’s name to entice people to click on the maliciously titled videos exposed her to ridicule and subjected her person and her reputation to abuse and harassment, the letter added. Further, it noted that while Aika wanted to focus on her mother’s campaign for the presidency, she knew that allowing this behavior to continue will also subject other persons “to similar abuse and harassment from the same perpetrators.” READ: “We are filing this not just for Aika, but for all those who could be victimized by these online predators. We will not stop until the perpetrators of this atrocious act are behind bars,” co-counsel Pingki Bartolome said. Aika is hopeful that the source and the person/s responsible will be identified and proper charges will be filed with the help of NBI’s tools and equipment. “Your good office has the necessary tools and equipment to identify the first post, the username(s) and/or accounts, the sites or links and the IP addresses, and the identity/ies of the perpetrator(s),” the letter said. Also attached in the letter are preliminary list of links that the NBI may find useful in its investigation and eventual prosecution of the perpetrators. The Vice President earlier said that she is leaving the prosecution of the perpetrators to their lawyers as she wants to focus on her campaign. Meanwhile, a women’s group also wrote the NBI, asking it to take down the sites where Aika’s fabricated videos were posted, and monitor similar sites that will do the same. READ: They also reported the porn and movie sites where the videos were posted. “These attempts are an insult to all women and to every decent, self-respecting human being and have no place in a civilized society,” the group said. “Whoever is responsible for this belongs to the lowest, most despicable class of human beings. They are considered criminals,” they added. The letter was signed by 12 leading feminists, including former Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Deles of Every Woman and former Commission on Higher Education (CHED) chairperson Patricia Licuanan.
