NVOC eyes nationwide rollout of 2nd booster shot 'as soon as possible' – DOH (Sabong News)

The National COVID-19 Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) is looking to roll out the second booster for specific populations nationwide “as soon as possible”, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Thursday, April 14.
In a statement, DOH said that the NVOC will work during the course of the holiday break along with the regional and local VOCs that are interfaced with local government units to carefully write rollout guidelines for the second booster dose.
DOH mentioned that the said guidelines will take into consideration learning experiences to date.
Meanwhile, it stated that the choice of vaccine brands will be made “based on the additional EUA and in careful consideration of operational realities such as cold chain logistics, among others.”
On Wednesday, April 13, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the administration of a second Covid-19 booster shot for select individuals, according to DOH.
DOH said that it received the additional emergency use authorization from the FDA to administer an additional Covid-19 vaccine booster dose to all senior citizens 60 years old and above, the immunocompromised, and frontline healthcare workers.
