Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Tuesday, April 12, said he was not hurt with the shifting of his volunteers to another candidate.
“Hindi naman. Sanay ako na may tibo sa kalsada, may pako, may graba na pag nadapa ka nagagalusan ka. What matters most is that bawat dapa mo babangon ka (Not really. I’m used to it. I’m used to shards on the streets, nail, gravel that when you fall you get scratched. What matters most is that every time you fall, you get up), ” he said in an ambush interview.
“That’s what you called politics,” he added.
Another chapter of Ikaw Muna Pilipinas announced on Monday, April 11, that it has shifted support to Vice President Leni Robredo.
“These are the same person, personality from last week. Ang sinasabi nila (What they are saying is) they hate [former senator Ferdinand] Marcos Jr. Nirerespeto ko ang opinyon nila (I respect their opinions). Hindi ako tumakbo para awayin o kamuhian si (I did not run to fight or loath) Leni Robredo, si Ferdinand Marcos Jr., si Ping Lacson, si Manny Pacquiao. Hindi ko sila kaaway (They are not my enemies),” the Manila mayor said.
Domagoso said the groups did not talk to him prior to announcing the withdrawal of their support to his presidential bid.
“Did they talk to me? No,” he said.
Asked what he felt about it, Domagoso said: “Demokrasya to eh (This is democracy). They can do whatever they want to do. They are entitled to their opinion.”
“I wish them good luck. It’s a test of character,” he added.
Domagoso also maintained that the shifting did not affect his campaign in any way.
“Itong mga taong to wala sa akin noong araw. Kaya kung sila ay mawala ngayon, walang bago sa buhay ko (These people are not in my life before. So if they leave now, there’s nothing new),” he said.
Domagoso said other camps just want to create an impression and perception that he is losing support through the withdrawal of his volunteer groups.
“Yan ang habol ng kumukuha sa kanila (That’s what those who get them want). It’s always about impression and perception. Kasi ‘yun lang kaya nilang gawin (because that’s the only thing they can do),” Domagoso said.
Domagoso then reiterated that he ran for presidency to help solve the problems of the Filipino people.
“Give me a chance. I will heal the country. Wala akong kaaway. Ang kaaway ko, yung hirap na dinaranas nyo (I have no enemy. My enemy is the hardship you are going through),” he said.
“Ako diretso lang ako. Kung gusto niyo talagang makamove on sa mga buhay natin (If you really want us to move on with our life), we’ll make those people liable, pay under the rule of law, hindi ‘yung higantihan (not just taking revenge),” he added.
Domagoso and the Aksyon Demokratiko slate are currently in San Pedro, Laguna as part of their campaign sortie.
