Presidential candidate Senator Panfilo Lacson cannot believe that he gets a mere two percent voter preference rating surveys, which is good for fifth place in a field of 10.
His running mate, Senate President Vicente Sotto III could not believe it either.
Both believe that their positive provincial sorties have pushed up Lacson’s survey rating.
‘’I don’t hear any other candidates na ganun so paanong magiging two (how can it happen that Lacson has two percent?)? Mula noong December hanggang ngayon hindi nagbago (Since last December, it has not changed),’’ the incredulous Senate chief asked during a forum at the ‘’Kapihan ng Samahang Plaridel”.
Lacson said that based on reactions and responses ‘’that we are getting on the ground, we are satisfied”.
‘’One thing on the survey I can’t really believe that I am only two percent. I can based it in my last election, I got 16.9 million votes,’’ he said.
‘’Palagay ko naman sa 16.9 merong mga naligaw doon na ako ang number one nila tapos bigang two percent (Assuming that there were some who lost their way and made me their number one, but having two percent?)? Assuming 16 million, ibig sabihin ang makukuha kong vote sa May 9, 1.2 million lang? (Assuming 16 million, what I will get in the forthcoming May 9 elections is only 1.2 million?) Parang hindi ako makapaniwala doon, mahirap paniwalaan yun (This is difficult to believe and accept),’’ Lacson said.
Sotto, for his part, said the result of their provincial surveys are totally different from the surveys of institutional surveys.
Surveys have shown a very wide lead from former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. over the nine other presidential candidates, with Vice President Leni Robredo being a far second-placer. Third is Manila Mayor Isko Moreno followed by Senator Emmanuel Pacquiao. Lacson is in the fifth slot.
‘’Of all si Senator Lacson na survey ang hindi kapani-paniwala (I can’t believe the reported ‘’poor’’ showing of Lacson). Anywhere we go, mga local officials sinasabi sa amin ganito ganun, ang feedback sa tao ganito, ganito (local officials said that we are like this, like that). I don’t hear any other candidates na ganun so paanong magiging two percent? (I don’t hear of any other candidate that gets such reception, and he only gets two percent?)’ Sotto said.
Lacson added: ‘’After after all the debates, after all the interviews, forum on TV mababawasan pa ako (I have a reduced rating?)? I don’t think so kasi hindi naman sa pagmamayabang flying colors naman ang performance ko doon (I don’t think so because, modesty aside, I posted flying colors in my performances).’’
