5 policemen charged in kidnapping of e-sabong financier in Laguna (Sabong News)

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) filed criminal charges before the Department of Justice (DoJ), against five policemen linked to the reported kidnapping of an online sabong (cockfighting) financier in Laguna.
In a statement, the CIDG said charges of kidnapping/serious illegal detention and robbery with intimidation were filed against PSSg Daryl Paghangaan; Pat Roy Navarete; Lt. Henry Sasaluya; PMSG Michael Claveria; Pat Regil Brosas were all members of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB), Laguna Police Provincial Office and several John Does.
The suspects involved in the case are now under restrictive custody at the regional holding and accounting unit of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 4A (Calabarzon or Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon).
They were positively identified by witnesses and other pieces of evidence as the men who entered the house of Ricardo Ricarfort Lasco a.k.a. "Jun".
Investigation showed the suspects first introduced themselves as members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and proceeded to arrest the victim by virtue of an alleged document that was being posed as a warrant of arrest for the crime of large scale estafa, last Aug. 30, 2021, in Barangay San Lucas 1, San Pablo City, Laguna.
Lasco is said to be a master agent of e-Sabong and a real estate agent who went missing after being abducted by the suspects.
The CIDG report said that police suspects carted away numerous personal belongings of the victim and his relatives amounting to about P500,000 and cash amounting to P180,000.
"Hindi coincidence itong allegation ng ating mga kaanak ng biktimang nawawala na the same police officers are involved so this is really a serious allegation kaya naman po sinigurado po ng regional director po ng Regional Police Office Calabarzon na ito po ay imbestigahan (It is not a coincidence that our relatives of the missing victim say that the same police officers are involved so this is really a serious allegation so the regional director of the Regional Police Office Calabarzon has ensured that this will be investigated)," said PNP spokesman Col. Jean Fajardo in a TV interview during the filing complaint at the DoJ on Monday afternoon.
Fajardo said PNP chief, Gen. Dionardo Carlos vowed justice to the family.
The CIDG meanwhile said it was continuously gathering information to trace and locate the victim while an ongoing investigation is being conducted on the identified suspects, especially on their connection with unscrupulous groups.
