College of St. Benilde looks to keep its hot streak going as it takes on the winless Jose Rizal University in a rare one game schedule in the NCAA Season 97 on Tuesday, April 12, at the La Salle Green Hills Gym in Mandaluyong.
The Blazers, who are riding a four-game winning streak for a 4-1 record, will try to add to the woes of the lowly Heavy Bombers who are still in search for the elusive first win in five games so far this season.
Robi Nayve and Will Gozum are expected to star for Benilde in the 3 p.m. game although they have a solid support cast led by Miggy Corteza who is coming off a career game of 24 points and 11 rebounds when the Blazers fended off the Perpetual Help Altas, 83-73, for their fourth straight win last Saturday.
JL Delos Santos and Jason Celis, on the other hand, take the daunting task of guiding the Heavy Bombers to their first win following a tough 80-65 loss against the Emilio Aguinaldo College Chiefs three days ago.
Celis, who unloaded 26 points in the clash, will need more contributions from his teammates if they wish to make a last-ditch push for a spot in the play-in now that the season is halfway through the eliminations.
It will be the first time this tournament that the league will be playing in a single-game schedule following the decision from the NCAA Management Committee to move the supposed San Beda-Letran match today to the last play date of the eliminations on April 29.
Rescheduled along with that match is the curtain-raiser that features a collision between Perpetual Help and EAC.
