Blacklist International Ultimate continued its dominance in the SEA region after bagging its fifth straight title in the CODM: Garena Invitational 2022 on Sunday, April 3.
Blacklist engineered a huge 3-2 reverse sweep of Indonesian team DG Esports in the Grand Finals to take the $14,000 top prize and the team’s fourth title this year.
Blacklist capped the come-from-behind win with a pulsating 6-4 victory in the Search and Destroy in Summit. The Filipino bets led 5-1 in the first half but the Indonesians took three straight rounds after the switch to threaten the CODM East Finals Champions.
The crew composed of John Benedict “Jaben” Julio, Abraham “Eiji” Agbing, Martin “Tin” Yap, Gian “Yato” Sacao. Railey “yobabs” Abrenica and Averson “Skerd” Salaya then displayed the composure in the final round to score the final point and complete the comeback.
DG Esports looked poise to take the victory after building a 2-0 series lead following its dominant victories in the Hardpoin in Firing Range, 150-60 and the Search and Destroy in Raid 6-4.
The Filipinos however refused to go down without a fight as they came back 150-118 in the Domination in Standoff and 150-88 in the Hardpoint in Takeoff to tie the series up 2-all.
The title is Blacklist’s fifth straight since winning the East Finals in December. It has won the PH Invitational Winter 2021 to start the year before bagging two more in the Axe Genesis tournament and Garena Masters 2022 Season 1.
