Edward “EDWARD” Dapadap stepped up in the most crucial time for Blacklist International as the defending champion ended the RSG Philippines’ seven-game win streak with a 2-1 reverse sweep in the MPL Philippines Season 9 on Sunday.
Edward was unstoppable in his Uranus picks in Games 2 and 3, setting the tone for Blacklist’s reversal of the current league leaders while also improving its chances of advancing to the next round of the competition.
He finished with a 4-1-8 KDA on the all-important Game 2 before putting up a deathless display of 3-0-4 KDA to man the frontline in the series clincher.
Edward’s Uranus proved to be an impenetrable defense for Blacklist in the crucial Game 2 as he soaked all of the damage during team fights, allowing Kiel “Oheb” Soriano’s Beatrix to freely hit RSG heroes from the backlines.
Edward also provided the lane pressure for RSG with aggressive lane cutting giving more space to Blacklist carry heroes and quickly reach their power spikes. Oheb finished with a 7-2-4 line while Jason “Eson” Gerardo provided extra protection with his Valir with a 3-1-9 KDA in Blacklist’s 17-6 victory in Game 2.
It was the same story in the series clincher as Edward held the fort for Blacklist once again allowing Kevier’s signature Lancelot and Oheb’s Lunox to freely get their farms and secure their core items. They also converted most of Eson’s Iron Hooks on the Franco into easy kills.
Blacklist then steamrolled to the 12-7 triumph in Game 3 with Kevier finishing with a 4-1-6 KDA while Oheb added a 3-1-4 line.
It was RSG which actually drew the series’ first blood after a dominant 22-8 Game 1 win but the team came up short in the next games.
With the win, Blacklist regained its spot at the sixth place of the standing with 14 points on a 3-10 record. The defending champion is one point ahead of No. 7 team Omega Esports which will be its final opponent in the regular season next week.
That match will be a huge one for both of the squads as the result will decide their fate for the season.
