Reigning champion Ateneo zoomed past De La Salle, 74-57, to remain unbeaten in four games in the UAAP Season 84 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City Saturday, April 2.
The Blue Eagles unloaded a 10-0 run sparked by back-to-back triples from Tyler Tio to build a 10-point cushion midway through the third quarter, 52-42.
After four straight baskets from De La Salle, Ange Kouame and SJ Belangel joined forces for another 8-2 blitz as Ateneo led by as many as 17 points, 69-52, and pulled away for good with less than two minutes left in the payoff period.
The Eagles also rolled to their 30th straight victory since 2018.
