Presidential bet Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is hopeful that his UniTeam alliance will dominate the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) vote in the May 2022 polls.
Reporters had an ambush interview wirh Marcos after a UniTeam hybrid Miting De Avance with OFWs at the Hilton Manila, Pasay City.
“Nakakatuwa kahit hybrid medyo maganda pa rin ang response (It’s good to see that the response was good despite the hybrid set-up). I sincerely hope so. We are not confident of anything until we actually get it but yes we are working hard to get their support,” Marcos told reporters on Friday, April 1 when asked his thoughts about the OFW vote.
Starting from April 10 up until May 9, OFW voters can begin participating in the May 2022 elections either by mailing their ballots or by voting at a Philippine diplomatic post.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) figures show that there are about 1.77 million OFWs, with about 1.7 million of them eligible to vote according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Marcos, his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, and 11 members of the UniTeam Senate slate were present at the event.
