CCLEX nears completion, on track for April opening (Sabong News)

CEBU CITY—Construction of the 8.9-kilometer Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) is nearing completion.
The P30-billion bridge is already 93.05 percent complete as of February and is on track of its targeted opening this month.
Work on the CCLEX now only covers piping and ducting as well as construction of safety barriers at the CSCR on and off ramps, Cebu viaduct, main bridge, Cordova viaduct, and low-level bridges at the causeway.
Asphalting works on the different sections of the project are also underway.
At the toll plaza located in the Cordova side of the expressway, pavement works and assembling of canopy is ongoing.
The toll plaza has eight toll lanes—four lanes in each direction—with radio-frequency identification (RFID) electronic payment for toll collection.
Work is also being done for the CCLEX Operations and Maintenance Center, and the Toll Operations Center building.
Major CCLEX construction accomplishment includes completion of main bridge structure, installation of all 56 stay cables, completion of CCLEX on ramp and off ramp structure, completion of 200-meter pedestrian footbridge, completion of Cebu viaduct structure, completion of Cordova viaduct structure, completion of four low-level bridges for fishermen and placing of 20 vent pipes for Cordova water channel equalization.
The bridge will use an all-electronic toll collection system to provide safe and seamless travel.

CCLEX, highlighted by its iconic crosses on top of the twin pylons of the cable-stayed main bridge over the Mactan Channel, is Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation’s first toll road project outside Luzon.
CCLEX, which will be the third link to Mactan Island from Cordova Municipality to mainland Cebu through Cebu City’s South Road Properties, has a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour (kph) and a navigational clearance or height of 51 meters to allow large vessels to pass underneath the bridge.
