Kontra Daya said the Commission on Elections (Comelec) should ensure that the master list of voters is up-to-date.
The poll watchdog group issued the call after the Comelec expressed concerns over the continued presence of deceased individuals in the voters list.
Kontra Daya also issued the following specific calls:
•Hasten the uploading of the precinct finder so that people can look up their deceased relatives voter info status (along with their own status).
• Coordination of Comelec with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and other agencies (civil registry) on the deaths during pandemic to reconcile the data with the master list of voters.
• Full transparency on the security measures put in place to protect the master list.
• Strengthened vigilance among people in reporting the deaths in the family, especially those who have been active voters.
Kontra Daya cited the possibility of having “flying voters” in the May 2022 polls especially with deceased individuals still in the voters list.
“There is a possibility that there will be flying voters as IDs can be faked and indelible inks can be washed off,” Kontra Daya Convenor Danilo Arao said Wednesday, March 30.
A flying voter is a person, who votes more than ones during elections by using the names of other registered voters, such as deceased individuals.
