The whole world is still debating about what happened at the Academy Awards wherein Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinckett-Smith’s alopecia illness and Will Smith reaction of going up on stage to slap Rock.
Who is at fault? Was Rock’s joke acceptable? Was it okay for Smith to go up on stage and make a scene? Here are some of the celebs who tweeted their thoughts over this unfortunate encounter.
Jaden Smith simply tweeted, “And that’s how we do it!”
And That’s How We Do It
Nicki Minaj tweeted a lengthy one, “I love Chris Rock. I don’t think he would’ve made that joke had he known what Jada recently shared, but between him and the whole team at the Oscars, you mean to tell me not one of you all heard this woman just share this heartbreaking story?”
“You just got to witness in real time what happens in a man’s soul when he looks over to the woman he loves and sees her holding back tears from a ‘little joke’ at her expense. This is what any and every real man feels in that instant while y’all seeing the joke he’s seeing her pain.”
“Imagine what it must feel like to be losing your hair to the point where you have to shave it bald. You think that’s easy to deal with for anyone? You don’t think she’s cried about that many times? 2022, you all going to have to see these men about those jokes you made about their wives.”

Tiffany Haddish was interviewed by the LA Times, “I think Chris was messy. As a woman who had a husband, I wish my husband would have stood up for me the way Will stood up for Jada. That’s what every woman wants, right? She was hurt, and he protected his wife. And that’s what a man is supposed to do.”

on Smith/Rock: "I think Chris was messy. As a woman who had a husb, I wish my husb wld have stood up 4 me the way (Will) stood up 4 (Jada). That’s what every woman wants, right? She was hurt. And he protected his wife. And that’s what a man is supposed 2 do."
Sophia Bush expressed that both parties are wrong. “Violence isn’t ok. Assault is never the answer. Also? This is the second time that Chris has made fun of Jada on the Oscars stage, and, tonight, he went after her alopecia. Punching down at someone’s auto-immune disease is wrong. Doing so on purpose is cruel. They both need a breather.”
She continued in another tweet, “For people asking if her alopecia is public knowledge? Yes. She first spoke about it in 2018. She’s been open about it since and the Smiths and Rock have a long-overlapping circle. Hitting him was not okay, and his ‘joke’ was cruel and personal. All of it, awful.”

For Mia Farrow, she tweeted a little after the incident, “It was just a joke. Jokes are what Chris Rock does. Always has been edgy. This was a mild joke for him. And I love G.I. Jane” Later on, she tweeted again, “What I saw was one of Hollywood’s most powerful movie stars stalk onto a stage to strike a comedian for an unfortunate joke about his (gorgeous) wife’s shaved head. Anyone who is ok with that has probably never been hit by a powerful man. As we advise our kids, ‘use your words.'”

Mia Farrow also tweeted a deleted-post by director Judd Apatow, “He could have killed (Rock). That’s pure out of control rage and violence. They’ve heard a million jokes about them in the last three decades. They are not freshman in the world of Hollywood and comedy. He lost his mind.”
It was indeed quite a shocking experience for most, especially those who were there live to witness what happened. The Academy Awards issued a
afterwards, saying that they do not condone violence of any form.
