BACOLOD CITY – A total of P6,492,657.615 worth of shabu and marijuana were destroyed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Western Visayas at the Acropolis Garden in Barangay Bata here on Friday.
The amount, according to PDEA acting regional director Alex Tablate, comprised P6,180,498 for the value of 686.7220 grams of ‘shabu’ and P312,159.615 for the value of 2081.0641 grams of marijuana.
Tablate said these illegal drugs were confiscated in the anti-illegal drug operations of police and PDEA operatives in the region. Some of these illegal drugs were used in court litigation or for those with pending cases.
Tablate said PDEA immediately proceeded to carry out the procedure to destroy the illegal drugs on order by court.
Tablate said the very purpose of this is to let the public know that illegal drugs are meant to be destroyed.
“Part pa ito ng protocol natin. Hindi lang hanggang sa hulihan, pero hanggang sa pag destroy ng evidence,” (This is part of our protocol. It’s not just until apprehension, but until the destruction of evidences,” Tablate added.
