Filipinos are not dreaming for the grandest things, all they ever wanted is to be given the “space” to realize their dreams.
This was what Vice President Leni Robredo learned from her active engagement with citizens from all walks of life.
In her closing statement at the Usapang Halalan 2022: CBCP Election Forum Friday evening, March 25, the presidential aspirant stressed that the most important solution to society’s problems are actually found in a leader’s constant unity and engagement with the people.
So, she reminded the voters anew that election is the season of promises from pursuing candidates. She, however, does not only present promises and plans but also “the products of my principles that I have been living by as a public servant.”
I have learned from being with the people that they are not dreaming for gold but they are dreaming for a better life that they have worked for),” Robredo said.
They are not dreaming for a palace but they are dreaming for an ample space for their aspirations),” she added.
“At ito pong pangarap na nararamdaman nila, yung makahanap sila ng kaginhawahan hango sa kanilang paghihirap (And this dream is for them have a better life that they deserve).”
These aspirations of the Filipino people, the Vice President said, bring them hope.
And this hope they have for a better life and the symbol of hope Robredo’s candidacy carries will make her victory in the May elections possible, Robredo said.
She also reiterated her earlier statement that leaders need to show up and man up.
What it means is showing up, joining, and having to experience the challenges Filipino face during elections and especially if there is no election), the opposition leader said.
Because we believe that the most important solution to the problems of our nation is the one found in knowing and empathizing with their problems),” Robredo added.
