Covid-19 hospital admission rate remains at low risk—DOH (Sabong News)

The Department of Health (DOH) said that hospital admissions due to Covid-19 in the country continue to drop as the number of cases remains low.
“Nananatili po tayo na nasa low risk sa ating total bed utilization na nasa (We remain at low risk with our total bed utilization at) 17 percent,” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire during the Malacanang press briefing on Friday, March 25.
The number of patients being admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) is also decreasing, said Vergeire.
“Bumaba din po ang bilang ng ating mga kababayan na naadmit sa ICU na sa ngayon ay nasa 575 admissions na lamang (The number of patients admitted to the ICU has also decreased with only 575 admissions at present),” she said.
“Nananatili pa ring na nasa low risk ang ICU utilization na nasa 16 percent (The ICU utilization rate remains at low risk at 16 percent),” she added.
The DOH has yet to observe an uptick in cases. Covid-19 infections in the country’s island groups are on a downward trend, said Vergeire.
“Sa kasalukuyan, tinatayang 454 new cases ang meron tayo kada araw. Mas mababa po ito ng kaunti kumpara nung nag umpisa tayo nung nakaraang Disyembre na nasa 490 cases kada araw ito yung bago tayo tamaan ng Omicron variant (Currently, we have an estimated 454 new cases per day. This is slightly lower as compared to last December with 490 cases per day— this was before the Omicron variant affected us),” said Vergeire.
“Ang pagbaba ng mga kaso ay hindi lamang makikita sa Luzon kung hindi ito ay makikita sa Visayas at Mindanao (The decrease in cases is not only evident in Luzon as it is also being seen in Visayas and Mindanao),” she added.
Adherence to safety protocols and vaccination were the main factors why the number of cases continue to decrease, said Vergeire.
“Kaya naman po tuloy-tuloy lamang tayo sa pagsunod sa ating (This is why we should continue to adhere to our) minimum public health standards,” she said.
