ILOILO CITY – A P140-million new road connecting two ports at world-famous Boracay Island in Malay town, Aklan province is now open.
Acting Secretary Roger Mercado of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) led the recent inauguration of the road that connects the Cagban Port and Tambisaan Port in Manoc-Manoc village.
The 1.4-kilometer road is the third phase of the Boracay Circumferential Road project, which is a 21.6-kilometer road network at the country’s premier tourist destination.
The Cagban Port is where the majority of boats go in and out, but the Tambisaan Port is used during monsoon season or when the waves are too big.
The new road project has widened the span of the lanes while also constructing a drainage system, sidewalk with paving blocks, installation of street lights, and application of thermoplastic pavement markings.
Joining Mercado were Undersecretary Rafael Yabut, Undersecretary Maximo Carvajal as well as Assistant Secretary Wilfredo S. Mallari.
DPWH-6 Regional Director Tiburcio Canlas DPWH-6 and Assistant Regional Director Jose Al Fruto were also present.
