Presidential candidate and Manila mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso slammed candidates who bring people to campaign events for a fee, saying cases should be filed against them.
“Motor-paid is you attend the rally and you get paid, diba ganon ‘yun?,” he said during an ambush interview.
“Well, I hope kung talagang may ganon, makasuhan. Kasi bawal ‘yun sa batas. Solicitation of votes through money or in exchange of sa votes, you give something, bawal naman ‘yun. Alam natin ‘yun. Maliwanag pa sa sikat ng araw (if there really is such a thing, they should be prosecuted. Because that is against the law. Solicitation of votes through money or in exchange of votes, you give something, that is forbidden. We know that. That’s brighter than the sunlight),” he said.
The Manila mayor then assured that he will continue to reach out to the people personally to let them hear his visions and platforms.
“Basta ganito, sa akin, wala po kayo aasahan. Laway lang po ang meron ako. Laway lang. (You have nothing to expect from me. I only have my words) With all honesty, hopes, aspirations, and visions ‘yung mao-offer ko (is what I have to offer),” he said.
“Ngayon kung may tumutulong diyan on the side, as much as posisble, ‘wag natin bolahin ang sarili natin. Wag natin papuntahin ang tao for a fee. Gusto ko mas pumunta sila dahil baka interesado silang mapakinggan tayo (Now if someone helps out there on the side, as much as posisble, ‘let’s not mess ourselves up. Let’s not send the people for a fee. I want them to come more because they might be interested in hearing us).
Domagoso and the Aksyon Demokratiko slate was in Kavit, Cavite on Friday, March 18, for their campaign rally.
