Muntinlupa City’s active Covid-19 cases down to 11; 4 barangays with zero tally (Sabong News)

Muntinlupa City’s total number of active Covid-19 cases has further decreased with zero suspect cases.
Based on the March 18 update by the City Health Office, Muntinlupa has 11 active Covid-19 cases, down from 13 on March 17, 16 on March 16, 25 on March 15, 15 on March 14 and 18 on March 13.
As of March 18, Muntinlupa has 39,872 confirmed cases, 39,247 recoveries and 614 deaths since the pandemic started in 2020.
The Muntinlupa City government recorded six new cases, eight new recoveries and zero deaths on March 18 to bring the total active cases to 11.
Out of the nine barangays in Muntinlupa, four have recorded zero new cases, resulting in zero active cases. These are Barangays Poblacion, Putatan, Bayanan and Sucat.
Of the 11 active cases, four are listed in Alabang, three in Tunasan, two in Cupang and one each in Ayala Alabang and Buli.
During the “Laging Handa” public briefing on March 17, Health Sec. Francisco Duque III discussed the threats of the so-called “Deltacron,” a hybrid between Delta and Omicron variants, and the BA.2.2 Omicron sublineage, which have been detected in other countries.
Duque said amid the threat, the Department of Health with not change the guidelines and protocols as of now.
“So far, this Deltacron, which is being called a recombination variant. It’s like a mestizo version of Delta and Omicron, which were combined in one person, well simultaneous circulation of both viruses is seen in a patient,” he said.
He said there is no data or proof yet that this is more dangerous or more contagious.
“In fact, there is a very low detection rate in France, Germany, Netherlands. So that is still being studied, our experts are observing.
Regarding BA.2.2. sublineage, Duque said said there is a possibility that it will enter the Philippines especially if people become complacent in following minimum public health standards.
“We should learn from what is happening in Austria, Denmark, Germany, France, where there is an increase in cases. And because it has been reported that they removed mask mandates, that is what happened,” he said.
