The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers edged the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 25-16, 25-23, 25-22, to notch their second straight win in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Paco Arena in Manila Friday, March 18.
Aby Maraño and Kim Kianna Dy scored 11 points apiece to lead F2 Logistics on the offensive while Tin Tiamzon posted 10 markers.
Chery Tiggo, the defending champions, tried to stay alive in the third set after Mae Layug soared for a down-the-line hit to trail by two points, 22-24.
After securing a good cover, Kim Fajardo had a good read and dished out a swift set to Marano for a soft tip to take the game away.
F2 Logistics also had crucial back-to-back scores courtesy of Majoy Baron, who contributed seven points, hitting the backcourt and Shola Alvarez blocking Layug’s attack to reach match point.
“Kagaya nung first game ‘no, very little time to adjust for the second game. Kaya kailangan lang talaga mapulido yung expected of us na basic skills, passing, blocking so aside from that we need to work as a team talaga (Just like the first time, we only had minimal time to adjust for the second game. We really need to polish things out especially the basic skills, passing, blocking. Aside from that, we really need to work as a team),” said F2 Logistics head coach Benson Bocboc.
Maika Ortiz, the lone double-digit scorer for Chery Tiggo, hammered 11 points as they absorbed back-to-back losses.
EJ Laure chipped in six points while Layug, Mylene Paat, Shaya Adorador, and Mary Joy Dacoron all scored five markers each. Dindin Santiago-Manabat was limited to three points.
