Filipinos must have business know-how–no other way around it.
This was Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) vice presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s message Wednesday, March 16 to a huge crowd in her “meet and greet” at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
According to the presidential daughter, having knowledge in starting up a business can help fight hunger and poverty.
Thus, there is a need to establish educational programs concerning businesses, she said.
“Kulang kasi kung sweldo lang ang ating aasahan–sweldo ng asawa, sweldo ng breadwinner. Dapat marunong rin po ang ating mga kababayan na magnegosyo (Your salary can only go so far–the spouse’s salary, the breadwinner’s salary. Our countrymen must know how to put up a business),” Duterte said.
In her native of Davao City, Duterte established the “Magnegosyo ‘Ta Day” project, which aims to provide economic opportunities to residents so that they may become productive.
The project also offers free education on business as well as financial assistance that can be used as start-up capital.
Duterte vowed to look into the business sector and provide the stakeholders with economic stability if and when she wins in the May polls.
“Meron pong science ang pagne-negosyo, at dapat po natuturuan lahat. ‘Yan po ang panguna na tututukan natin–‘yung pera sa bulsa, at pagkain sa mesa (There’s a science to putting up a business and everybody must be taught. That’s what we’ll focus on first–putting money in the pocket, and putting food on the table),” she said.
Duterte was in Pasay City to meet with supporters in different barangays. She also met with the Pasay City market vendors, and, later in the day at Manila Hotel, with
and Tawi-Tawi governor and mayors.
