Two DIT (Doctor of Information Technology) candidates from the Technological Institute of the Philippines (T.I.P.) won awards at the 12th IEEE Computing and Communication Workshop and Conference (CCWC), which was held virtually from Las Vegas, USA.
Rossian Perea and Epie Custodio were named Best Paper and Best Presenter, respectively, honoring their program and T.I.P.
Perea’s Analysis of the Use of Analytics Platform for the Commercial Value of Mud Crab Production using Non-parametric Model combined aquaculture and IT to improve the country’s annual mud crab yield. In one shot, micro farm owners and monitoring institutions can now come up with better data-driven decision-making processes for their produce.
Custodio’s Performance Analysis of Deep Learning Architecture in Classifying Calamansi, meanwhile, aimed to develop an innovative and reliable way of classifying calamansi based on size, maturity, and overall condition.
“These achievements show that T.I.P. graduate students are globally competitive,” said T.I.P. Manila Graduate Programs Dean Dr. Enrique Festijo.
The IEEE CCWC provides a forum for students, educators, and researchers to discuss issues, trends, and developments in computing and communication. This year, a total of 190 papers were accepted.
Researchers of DIT and PhD CS candidates Christopher Estonilo and Great Allan Ong were also presented at the said conference.
