Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Monday, March 14, said local candidates who promise to secure a number of votes for certain candidates are insulting the voters.
“Modesty aside, I don’t ask any local leaders, any endorsers of the promise of votes. You know why? It’s a great insult to the voters,” Domagoso said during an ambush interview in Sorsogon.
While the presidential candidate admitted that he wants a good sum of votes, he maintained that local officials should still not promise any candidates a number of votes.
“Hindi natin pwedeng ipangako na, ‘Ako bahala sa iyo dito, bibigyan kita ng isang milyong boto (We cannot promise that, ‘I’ll take care of you here, I’ll give you one million votes),” Domagoso stressed.
“Pinangungunahan mo na ang taong bayan non. Sinasaklawan mo na ‘yung kanyang karapatan makapamili ng lider ayon sa pagkakaunawa niya (You are already leading the people. You are stepping their right to choose a leader according to their own understanding). So I don’t ask them that,” he pointed out.
Domagoso and the Aksyon Demokratiko slate are currently in Sorsogon as part of their campaign sortie.
