Disaster Resilience Caravan in Palawan underway, says PCUP (Sabong News)

The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), as part of its goal to equip and help the urban poor, will implement a Disaster Resilience Caravan in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, it said on Monday, March 14.
A pre-caravan meeting was also held by the Commission together with the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) office of Palawan and the PCUP-accredited urban poor organizations.
While PCUP has yet to disclose its definite day of implementation, the Commission said that it will be held in eight barangays located in Puerto Princesa City..
Meanwhile, during the pre-caravan meeting, necessary preparations such as logistics, crowd control, and program flow were outlined and discussed.
“Ang Disaster Resilience Caravan ay binuo ng Komisyon upang makapagbigay ng kaalaman ukol sa household disaster preparedness na aakma sa mga madalas na nararanasang kalamidad sa Palawan (The Disaster Resilience Caravan was developed by the Commission to provide information on household disaster preparedness to equip residents against the frequent disasters in Palawan),” said PCUP Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alvin Feliciano in a press statement.
“[Layon din nitong] maturuan ang mga [residente] sa kahalagahan ng wastong nutrisyon gamit ang mga pangkaraniwang non-perishable goods gaya ng mga delata at instant relief packages (It also aims to educate the residents on the importance of ensuring proper nutrition using common non-perishable goods such as canned goods and instant relief packages),” Feliciano furthered.
