Mayor Binay: 7 community complexes completed in Makati (Sabong News)

The Makati City local government reported on Monday, March 14, that it has already completed the construction of community complexes in seven barangays.
Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said that the newly built facilities, which she regards as her legacy projects, are located in barangays Valenzuela, Comembo, Rizal, Palanan, West Rembo, Olympia, and San Antonio.
“We are glad to have completed these legacy infrastructure projects just as we are starting to regain normalcy in our daily lives. These have been designed to cater to Makatizens of all ages, offering them modern amenities,” Binay said.
Binay added that the city government opted to build the complexes to serve multiple functions and activities its citizens may choose from.
“As we gradually settle into the new normal, we are eager to see young men playing basketball again, mothers and grandmothers energetically doing zumba exercises, and other forms of group activities taking place in the neighborhood,” she said.
The mayor explained that she envisions each community center to become a hub of interaction that will restore and strengthen the community spirit in every barangay, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
On March 10, Binay led the inauguration of the three-story Valenzuela Community Complex together with Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo and other city officials.
The community complex boasts its new barangay hall, a 250 seating capacity basketball court, multipurpose hall, livelihood center, daycare center, computer center, and a library.
The 3,454.41-square meter facility also has a Bantay Bayan outpost, a control room, a fire and rescue center, a water collector system, and a parking lot.
Binay said that the six other sports complexes are all expected to be inaugurated before Makati’s foundation day in June.
