This year, another category is introduced with their offering of progressive lenses. “We’ve been planning for the launch of our progressives category since two years ago,” reveals the Sunnies Studios team. “When we launched our Sunnies Home Optical, our mobile optical shop on-the-go, we noticed a lot of people who enjoyed their appointments purchased progressive eyewear. As part of our vision to become a one-stop-shop for eyewear, it was important for Sunnies Studios to address the need of this specific market for the long term, offering lenses and frames for the age bracket who will need it.”
Progressive lenses are multifocal lenses that allow one to see from different distances. It is recommended for people who have difficulty seeing near and far—an all-in-one lens with multiple prescriptions so you don’t have to switch between two frames. This vision challenge usually happens when you’re over 40 years old, but it can also be experienced by just about anyone, so an eye exam is always recommended.
With seven styles to choose from, the Progressive collection are lightweight pieces that come in natural colors that are designed for everyday use. These can also be availed for regular prescription. The difference of wearing progressive lens is that it will take some getting used to for those who are new to this category.
Sunnies Studios team suggest the following tips.
1. Prevent switching of glasses to be able to adapt easily. It may take up to four days or more to adjust for first time progressive lens wearers.
2. Practice using it in familiar places (such as your home or at work) until you are able to gauge the limits of the lenses.
3. Incorporate more head movement and less eye movement when using your new lenses.
4. Make sure to tilt your head down when going up or down the stairs or going in the car. Everything you see at the bottom part of the lens makes it look closer.
5. The sides of the lenses do not have your prescription grade. Blending of distance, intermediate, and near grades are found at the sides of the lens.
6. Wear the glasses like how it was fitted and marked by your doctor.
7. Progressives lenses are best tried with the presence of your optometrist. If you need further assistance, feel free to drop by at any Sunnies Studios store.
Progressive lenses with frames start at P3,299 or USD85. “The final price will depend on the prescription of the patient and their preferred lens upgrade, like High Impact, Sun Adaptive, or Ultrathin. We also offer two types of progressive lenses that patients can choose from, our house brand and Essilor lenses,” adds the Sunnies Studios team.
