Over 2,000 scholars, alumni, former faculty, and parents from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) or “Pisay,” released a statement endorsing Vice President and presidential bet Leni Robredo, citing her track record of public service.
In a joint statement on Saturday, March 12, the individuals representing all 16 campuses of “Pisay,” they stressed Robredo’s platform which includes emphasis on research, technology, and data-driven policies as crucial for national economic growth.
They also expressed confidence that Robredo can “faithfully execute the laws and safeguard and defend our Constitution and sovereignty” as President.
“We share the excitement and hopefulness felt by many who support Leni Robredo. Her track record of helping marginalized communities resonates strongly with our desire to give back to and serve the country. It also demonstrates that how we govern is as important as the outcomes of governance: rights-based, principled, and focused to address the needs of the most vulnerable in our society,” the group said.
The group also honored “Pisay” alumni and students who lived through the dictatorship during the Martial Law years and became victims of tortures and human rights abuses.
“As our democratic institutions face the real threat of a return to authoritarianism, we remember the Pisay martyrs who gave up their lives to fight for truth and freedom during the dark days of Martial Law,” they added.
Eleven “Pisay” alumni were memorialized on the
