PMA levels up marketing in 2022 (Sabong News)

PMA levels up marketing in 2022
Author MB Lifestyle
Date MARCH 10 2022
In an all-digital event, the Philippine Marketing Association recently celebrated its 68 anniversary and induction of its new board of directors. Some of the highlights of this affair were the handing over of the 2021 Presidential Awards, as well as the PMA and Haligi Awards. Recognition was also accorded to the Projects of the Year, Outstanding Committees, and other Citations. Keynote speakers were Issa Guevarra-Cabreira from Globe Telecom and Secretary Ramon Lopez of the Department of Trade and Industry who hails PMA for serving as a “productive platform to equip members with the latest insights and strategies that will foster a globally competent, relevant and compelling group of Filipino marketers.” Outgoing head, Mr. Lucien Dy Tioco, delivered his 2021 Presidential Report by candidly sharing his main challenges during the lockdowns imposed by the health crisis. To start with, PMA’s relevance was undermined as the lockdown put all events on hold. Despite the challenges of the situation, PMA was able to pivot into digital events as one of the very first organizations to launch its Online Forum. Moreover, the flagship projects, The 41st Agora Awards and The 51st National Marketing Conference, were mounted via hybrid and purely digital, respectively. These programs paved way for the positive financial standing of the PMA. Future proofing PMA was another challenge that was addressed by infusing young marketing professionals into the organization. Led by the new president Maeyeth C Cadungog, the new set of Board of Directors was introduced and a turnover and induction ceremony followed. In her acceptance speech, Cadungog revealed her plans for PMA, some of which are in the areas of gender equality, the youth, membership, research, government alliance, etc. Members can expect more hybrid events that will enable marketers all over the world to be active members of the Association on its events and activities despite not being in the Philippines. The new president also aptly called 2022 as a “level up” year as it is “a call to marry and respect tradition while transitioning towards innovation that I call ‘Trannovation.'”  She said that this approach respects the fundamentals while at the same time recognizes innovation and technology. She underscored the fact that marketing is “vital not only in business but in life in general and should be a force for good in uplifting the economy.” In her new role, Cadungog will be strongly supported by Marco Antonio Montes, CPM of Manulife Phils., as executive vice president—director, ways and means, Sy Bryan Lato, CPM of 360 Next Creative Solutions, Inc. as vice president and director, Membership and Fellowship John Alexis Revilla, CPM of United Neon Advertising, Inc. as board secretary, and Charisse P. Diaz, CPM of Artisano Studio as treasurer. Others lending support are Directors Lea Therese Chua of the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, Atty. John Evan Miguel of De La Salle—College of St. Benilde, Rona Mary Gianchand, CPM of St. Peter Life Plan, Mitchelle Viray of Propelrr, Enrique Pablo Caeg, CPM of RAP Training, Joseph Albette Buddahim, CPM of Katapult Digital, Nestor Layderos, CPM of Zoe Broadcasting Network, Inc., Mary Ann Cortez of Strategic Consumer & Media Incites, Dr. Jennifer Ramos, CPMe of San Beda University, and Mr. Lucien C. DyTioco of The Philippine Star Media Group. Two years short of celebrating its milestone Platinum existence, the PMA is all geared up to a “levelled up” 2022. Let’s toss to the new Board of Directors, and to the marketing profession for which PMA stands for. Very Peri is a rich shade inspired by the five-petaled periwinkle flower. This new hue has an interplay of colors blue, violet and red. Blue is the color of communication while violet evokes imagination and spirituality. Meanwhile, vibrant red represents intense emotions of love, passion, and even sacrifice. And just like very peri, the PMA is a collaboration of marketing professionals that make the organization a rich blend of different personalities, talents, and persuasions. This rich melting pot encourages a harmony of creativity, commitment, and passion in pursuit of marketing excellence.
