Mark Magsayo will put his World Boxing Council (WBC) featherweight belt on the line for the first time against former champion Rey Vargas reportedly in July.
disclosed that Vargas is in “advanced talks” with the Filipino champion and that the title bout is expected to materialize in July brought by the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC).
Magsayo is currently in the Philippines and spent a much-needed breather as he received a warm welcome for his homecoming in Tagbilaran, Bohol.

Leo Santa Cruz, the super WBA featherweight champion, however, has been on Magsayo’s radar for a while now.
Against Vargas though, Magsayo will be facing a former WBC super bantamweight titlist.
The Tagbilaran, Bohol native boxer remained unbeaten in 24 matches on top of 16 knockouts and captured the WBC title after
Vargas, for his part, is also undefeated in 35 bouts with 22 KOs.
The Mexican standout last saw action in November 2021 with a unanimous decision win over compatriot Leonardo Baez
