Malacañang on Wednesday ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to probe the cases of missing
In a memorandum issued by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on March 8, the PNP and the NBI were directed to conduct a thorough investigation on disappearances, and to submit their findings to the Office of the President and the Department of Justice within 30 days.
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), meanwhile, was asked to look into any violation of its e-sabong licenses, and to ensure compliance with the security, and surveillance requirements under its Regulatory Framework for E-Sabong Off-Cockpit Betting Station.
The security and surveillance for e-sabong operations particularly require the installation of CCTV Systems in gaming sites, among others.
The order was issued after the Senate approved a resolution expressing its sense to strongly urge PAGCOR to suspend the license to operate of e-sabong operators and to immediately stop all activities related to e-sabong until the cases of the missing
are resolved.
There was no mention in the Palace memorandum about the suspension of e-sabong permits.
“Unless otherwise directed, the operations of e-sabong licensees shall remain unaffected, pending the result of the above investigations,” the memo read.
Senator Ronald dela Rosa, chairman of the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs, earlier said a total of 34
linked to online sabong have been reported missing.
