Founded by gaming personalities and blockchain enthusiasts, Good Game Society (GGS) is a social club made by gamers for gamers. GGS draws its inspiration from the passion of Filipino gamers. Along with its world-class, Filipino-made NFTs, the club drives their mission to lead the Filipino gaming community towards adopting blockchain technology. Their NFTs will be available to the public on March 11, 2022.
The founders conceptualized the art of the NFT collection. The design is symbolic of the online persona that a gamer projects in different gaming universes. There is also a hint of the classic by using an old television or computer monitor model to give a reminiscent feeling as we look back to the beginning of an era where digitalization started. The collection was hand-drawn by the up-and-coming all-Filipino studio called Apetomic studio. They specialize in creating art and assets for the gaming and film industries.
It was not long ago when only a few believed that a career in gaming was real and viable. One of the more popular themes in gaming memes would be the Filipino mom phrase “Kakacomputer mo yan!”. This now legendary saying refers to how kids, adolescents, and adults alike tend to spend a significant amount of time playing computer games that misfortunes such as sickness and low school grades are blamed to it exclusively. It was all jokes and memes until Esports made it to the mainstream, with several Filipinos headlining the main events in games like Mobile Legends, Dota, Dota 2, and Valorant, to name a few.
As professional gaming and gaming, in general, became increasingly popular over the years, new opportunities and careers were born with it. One example of such is gaming content creation. Who would have thought it is possible to make a living out of playing computer games? Some of us, especially those who have a passion for gaming, would imagine that this career path is the dream because it revolves around something fun and exciting. However, it requires more than just passion and creativity to succeed or even enter the business. In addition to this, blockchain technology took the spotlight the past few years and presented itself as the future. It was fascinating to see how it is applied to finance, gaming, data storage, and even art.
With gaming, blockchain, and all the opportunities that surround them, and the Filipino gaming community in mind, the vision of GGS is to lead a healthy community with connection, education, and collaboration at its core. GGS, first and foremost, is a safe space for talking and learning about technology, games, and monetizing gaming. The three co-founders, Billy Alfonso (Z4pnu), King Cosmos, and Weigibbor Labos, know the ins and outs of gaming because of their respective backgrounds and careers. It is in their mission to help out aspiring Filipino gamers, content creators, and artists alike. Second, GGS wants to pioneer a movement towards a society where gamers are esteemed. As shown in their roadmap announcement via their Discord channel, GGS set its sight to more partnerships and collaboration, creating a gaming guild, and building a DAO. Together with the expertise of the co-founders, proficiency in blockchain development and cybersecurity brought by Eliezer Rabadon, strength in business and finance brought by an individual nicknamed Pandaaa, and an extensive network both in gaming and blockchain space, the founding members have set the roots of GGS deep and strong.
