PRO 7: E-sabong operators in Central Visayas reduce in number (Latest Sabong News)
E-SABONG operators in Central Visayas have reduced in number due to the continuous fight against illegal gambling by authorities.
This, after another online cockfighting den was raided by the police on Monday morning, January 9, in the mountain barangay of Bugho in San Fernando town, southern Cebu.
The police confiscated cameras, 128 live fighting cocks, 28 dead roosters, bet money, computers and other information and satellite dish parabola during the operation.
Brigadier General Jerry Bearis, chief of the Police Regional Office (PRO 7), said online cockfighting operators chose to operate in the mountain even though there is no cellphone signal there because they could not be easily detected.
He said operators use satellite dish to broadcast online cockfighting through the internet where gamblers place their bets.
Although Bearis admitted having difficulty catching the suspects, the police can still trace their location with the help of their national headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City, the National Telecommunications Commission and the Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit 7.
“Upon our assumption, we have already lowered down the presence. Kung makikita nyo, nasa bundok na sila eh, yung sa San Fernando, nasa bundok na sila and upon monitoring of our intelligence operatives dito sa urban areas, negative na didto but they are making it sa mountainous areas and far-flung barangays,” Bearis said.
Bearis vowed to go after the gambling syndicate in the region until they would be able to neutralize them all.
