PHILIPPINE National Police Chief, Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., dismissed five policemen involved in the kidnapping of an e-sabong (online cockfighting) executive in Laguna last year.
Police Col. Jean Fajardo, PNP spokesman, in an interview at Camp Crame, said Azurin has signed the dismissal order against the five policemen, based on the recommendation of the Internal Affairs Service that they be sacked due to grave misconduct.
Among those dismissed include Police Staff Sgt. Daryl Panghangaan, Patrolman Roy Navarette and Rigel Brosas, whom the Department of Justice (DoJ) found to have probable cause for charges of robbery and kidnapping.
Meanwhile, while cleared of criminal charges, Police Lt. Henry Sasaluya and Police Master Sergeant Michael Claveria were also dismissed.
The five lawmen are now under the custody of Police Regional Office 4A or Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Batangas, Quezon).
